Curtis Reel
My journey in healthcare didn’t start in a classroom—it started with a calling to serve.
Growing up in Chicago, Illinois, I learned early the value of hard work, resilience, and community. That foundation led me to serve my country as a proud Navy veteran, where discipline, integrity, and purpose became the standard I live by. After my military service, I entered the nursing field as a Licensed Practical Nurse, working in nursing homes and urgent care—on the front lines of patient care where compassion matters most.
Over the past 22+ years, I have grown through every level of nursing. From cardiac units to ICU and CCU, to long-term acute care, I’ve cared for patients in some of their most critical and vulnerable moments. As a traveling Registered Nurse for eight years, I had the opportunity to serve diverse communities across the country, gaining not only clinical experience but a deeper understanding of people, systems, and the gaps in healthcare.
Those experiences shaped my purpose.
I founded ReelCare Academy & Wellness to do more than teach skills—I built it to change lives. As the Primary Instructor and Program Director, my mission is to develop confident, compassionate, and competent healthcare professionals who are truly prepared for the real world. I believe education should be hands-on, empowering, and rooted in real-life experience—not just textbooks.
At the same time, my journey led me deeper into mental health. I earned my Master’s degree with a focus in Psychiatric Mental Health and am currently preparing to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Through ReelCare Wellness, my goal is to provide accessible, high-quality mental health care that meets people where they are and helps them truly thrive.
Everything I do is grounded in service—whether it’s teaching a student how to provide care with confidence or helping a patient find stability and healing.
At home, I’m a husband and father of two, and my family is my greatest motivation. Along with our two dogs and a cat, they remind me daily why this work matters.

Uhronda Reel
For Uhronda Reel, healthcare has never been just a career—it has always been a calling rooted in compassion, service, and a deep commitment to helping others heal.
Raised in Monticello, Arkansas, Uhronda developed a strong sense of community and care early in life—values that would shape her path in nursing for over two decades. She began her journey as a Licensed Practical Nurse in long-term care, where she learned firsthand the importance of patience, dignity, and truly listening to those in her care. As she advanced to a Registered Nurse, her experience expanded across long-term care, medical-surgical nursing, and outpatient mental health, strengthening both her clinical skills and her passion for serving individuals facing complex health challenges.
But it was through her work in mental health that her purpose became clear.
Driven by a desire to make a deeper impact, Uhronda earned her Master of Science in Nursing and became a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Today, she provides compassionate, evidence-based care to clients in an outpatient setting, helping individuals navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health conditions with understanding and respect.
As Co-Founder and Medical Director of ReelCare Academy & Wellness, Uhronda plays a critical role in shaping the clinical vision and ensuring the highest standards of care. Through ReelCare Wellness, she is dedicated to breaking barriers to mental health services and creating a safe, supportive space where individuals feel seen, heard, and empowered on their journey to wellness.
Her approach to care is simple but powerful—treat every patient with compassion, meet them where they are, and help guide them toward a better quality of life.
Outside of her professional role, Uhronda is a devoted wife and mother of two. Her family, along with their two dogs and a cat, are the foundation of her strength and inspiration.
